Bringing Active Fun to Your Primary School

Rollerway Skate Centre in collaboration with IIHAA Geelong (the local registered skating club) brings you…

The School Based Skating Incursion Program

We’re bringing skating to Geelong primary schools!

Geelong Primary School Skating Program

IIHAA – Geelong (Inc), the local, registered and officially recognised club, is running an exciting new incursion program, and Rollerway Skate Centre is 100% sponsoring the program so that it can come to you at no cost.

The program aims to increase participation in sporting activities and provide an alternative way to stay active.

There is no equipment required, no prior experience needed and no special catches.  Participating kids can BYO skates & pads (knee, wrist & elbow guards) or use the centre’s (skates and protective equipment) and you are encouraged to BYO bike helmet, if we are using an outdoor facility at your school, in particular.

The school-based activities, in the school’s gym, or a clean, level, and smooth outdoor court, will cover a range of fundamental skating skills, as part of a structured session/lesson plan.  The details of the plan will be discussed with each school, and be personalised, as required.  The activity is designed to cover one to four single hour sessions.

Instruction will be provided by elite-level staff with appropriate tertiary training, a current WWCC, recognised sporting body affiliation, and recognised accreditation in coaching and skating related skills.  All of our instructors are highly proficient roller, inline, and ice skaters, and have had state, national, or international experience at both coaching and competing in related disciplines.

If your school is genuinely interested, please call the following number to register your interest and receive additional information:

Please note that this program is only available for a limited time, and for a limited number of schools.  Staffing and logistics issues will likely limit the radius of operation of the project, although it is hoped that the program may be available several weeks/months of the year, every year, depending on uptake and results.  Our acceptance of an expression of interest, may not guarantee acceptance into the program, for the above reasons.

Thank-you for your interest and participation in this active recreation program, which we consider an important public health initiative.  NB:  No State or Federal Government funding has been received for this initiative, and it is 100% privately funded.
