Almost 400 already booked in for the week before Christmas - hurry if you want to have your break-up with us!

Skates for Christmas?
The Chicago Skates and two Riedell Skates shipments arrived over the past week. Have sold about half but still have a few hundred pairs left. We still have 14 "shipping" days to Christmas, so there's still time and skates available.

14 November

The new Chicago roller skate shipment is now due to arrive next Monday (21/11) and the Tour Hockey shipment will land on 26/11 - just after Christmas! Don't you love international shipping!?!

22 October

Most of our hockey leagues (Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday) are "full house" for this season but we are looking for a few extra A and BA players to convert our Wednesday scrimmage night into a regular league. Some of our Peewee teams (under 12's) could also use an extra player or two. Please call or email if interested. Thanks!

13 January

We don't normally have "editorials" on the News Section, but this is a message we posted on our Facebook page, FYI

Did you know that it was 17 years ago, Christmas Eve that I took over Rollerway, and that Christmas it rained almost non-stop for 6 weeks. This year the rains are almost as bad, but in the time I've been here, I have NEVER seen it this humid for this long. We have had condensation on the rink once over summer that whole time and this year we have had it 4 days in a row already!!! Does anyone think that what they are saying about Global Warming messing weather patterns could be true? :(

This year, our dehumidifier, halogen heaters and drying fans haven't really helped although we hope the inversion and humid conditions that have caused this are likely to pass in another day or so...we don't mind the rain but let's hope the freaky humid conditions go soon!

What dies it mean to you, the skater? The floor can range from slippery to quite slippery. Mind you the crowds we have been getting have been huge despite the conditions, but it's disappointing that the "skater experience" has been diminished.

3 January

Hope you are all having a great start to the New Year. Remember that our EXTRA School Holiday sessions have now started and will continue until Sunday 6 February.

26 December

The Centre is now CLOSED for maintenance until Sunday 2 January 2011 - reopening at 1:30PM.

ON-LINE SHOP STILL OPEN WITH MOST STOCK AVAILABLE although some of the interstate warehouses we use and several of our suppliers are closed until 4 January.

Best wishes to all and hope you have a great 2011!

HappyNewYear

And a big thank-you to all of our staff and patrons for making 2010 a big success!

15 December

2 November

Sorry folks but we do not open to the general public on Melbourne Cup Day (Hockey runs as usual).

Monday to Friday we only open by appointment for schools due to the nature of both demand and our arrangement with local schools. Although it is sometimes confusing as some schools have days off and other don't, but we tend to open not when there are "pupil free days" or when private schools have holidays, but rather on official Public School Holidays (so days like Geelong or Melbourne Cup and Geelong or Melbourne Show days are not usually available to the general public). Sorry for any inconvenience.

20 October

We open for schools as usual on Geelong Cup day, today, but unfortunately WE ARE CLOSED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. Hockey will be on tonight, as usual.

9 October

With attendances over the school holidays affected by the UCI bike race (we were almost totally surrounded by road closures) many kids didn't get to find out about our great party deals and so we have a few extra vacancies for parties than we usually do. Take advantage of the situation as more days and times are still available!

Our five hockey leagues resumed last week and next week we will be introducing our new Intermediate hockey league on Fridays.

As things get back to normal and we continue to develop our online shop, our mail order and internet sales departments are starting to take orders again - sorry for any minor delays.

Finally, congratulations to the 8 people from our rink that travelled to Adelaide for the Inline Hockey Australia National titles and who managed to return with a number of medals including two gold - well done!

28 September

UCI Bike race creating greater congestion than expected so allow at least 30 minutes of travel time to get through some of the focal points. Our morning and night sessions may also become more appealing as they tend to be less affected by road closure issues.

*Monday Night's Roller Hockey League fixture is now up!*

24 September

Big Bike Race won't stop skating!

During the UCI Bike race access to the centre will still be possible by going along LaTrobe Terrace, then turning down West Fyans street, then proceeding to Gregory Street and turning into Lambert Avenue (as usual).

Depending on which direction you are approaching from, you may need to consider the following suggestions:

WEST
Princes Highway leads over James Harrison Bridge
Turn left at West Fyans Street
Turn Left at Newtown Vet Clinic
Right at Lambert Avenue

EAST
Cross at the Breakwater Bridge
Join onto Princes Highway
Follow over James Harrison Bridge
Turn left at West Fyans Street
Turn Left at Newtown Vet Clinic
Right at Lambert Avenue

NORTH
Follow Princes Highway
Turn Right at West Fyans Street
Turn Left at Newtown Vet Clinic
Right at Lambert Avenue

SOUTH
Follow Princes Highway over James Harrison Bridge
Turn left at West Fyans Street
Turn Left at Newtown Vet Clinic

Due to possible traffic congestion, please allow for a few extra minutes of travel time.

For more information please ring 0411 33 55 44

15 September

With our new online shop opening soon we will be temporarily stopping all mail order and online sales until further notice - sorry for the inconvenience but the project has grown and we are unable to work on both concurrently.

New shop here: www.allskateshop.com.au

7 September

Due to stock-take, periodic maintenance, and finalising an unprecedented number of back-orders our ONLINE SHOP IS CLOSED FROM 8 to 11 September. Unfortunately we will have minimal ability to answer phone calls or respond to emails during this time. Sorry for any inconvenience.

5 September

Happy Father's Day

3 September

  • Holidays are coming and so are extra sessions Monday-Friday
  • Hockey Starts finals next week - get your teams in ASAP for the NEW season
  • Internet/Mail order customers: due to an unprecedented growth in demand and several major shipments arriving at once (requiring backorders to be cleared up) there will be some delays in responding to emails and in sending out skates - sorry for the inconvenience

14 August

Well, we finally joined Facebook and we hope it will help our hockey players, regular customers, and on-line shoppers, better communicate with us and each other.

9 August

By popular demand (literally) we will run a special afternoon public session today: 1:30-4:30

Tonight's hockey remains as fixtured

12 July

The busiest winter holidays in quite a few years just finished yesterday and we are now back to our usual time table.

International shortages of some of the top roller skate models continue to make life interesting for us but we still have reasonable stock of many of the important sizes, with more being air-freighted from the US, arriving next week, and a container coming by sea freight, due in the next 2-3 weeks.

24 June

The Extra sessions for the Public School Holidays start from next week.

For the EXTRA Times over the Public School Holidays
As well as the usual weekend sessions
see here

REMEMBER: Birthday Parties may still be booked over the holidays.

The On-line shop is operating as usual, although some of our suppliers are having an end-of-financial year stock-take and there could be small delays in getting some items out.

2 June

Open QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY HOLIDAY (Monday, 14 June) from 1:30-4:30
*Hockey as usual on 14 June, from 6:30PM onwards

New roller skate stock just arrived, for those of you who have been waiting, although international demands continues to be a problem, as all of our suppliers are having difficulty in keeping up! That means we won't have enough for everyone, despite our best efforts - but we are trying.

9 April

Open ANZAC DAY & ANZAC DAY HOLIDAY (25 & 26 April) from 1:30-4:30 for public skating; hockey as usual on the Monday night.

19 December

SantaOnSkates

Anniversaries are a good time to reflect and rejoice a little perhaps? 16 years ago, Christmas Eve 1993, the present proprietor walked into Rollerway to begin operation, having once worked here as a boy. Thanks to the tremendous support of the local community, an awesome crew, ever increasing popularity of "skating parties," a local roller hockey league that is bigger than most state leagues around Australia, and lets not forget one of the most successful on-line skate shops in the country, Rollerway has grown 400% over that time. Thank-you to all for making it happen. Best wishes to everyone!

BTW School Holiday sessions have just started, but we do close for a few days from 25 December (see below).

11 December

Riedell

New arrangement with Riedell means that we will soon have more top quality ice and roller skates at better prices than ever!

2 December

So much to do and such little time!

School Holidays - we will be having extra sessions from 21 to 24 December, and then from 2 to 29 January. NB We will be CLOSED from 25 Dec to 1 Jan, reopening for the NIGHT SESSION ONLY on New Years Day (1/1/10)

Skate Shop - Good supplies of many skates but out-of-stock of others means you should try to get orders in ASAP (this will help ensure early delivery as we are VERY busy ATM)

Roller Hockey - Only a couple of weeks before the summer vacation!

Roller Derby - A special event will be held on Sunday morning, 6 Dec, from 11:00-1:00 (only $7 entry)

Birthday Parties (and group bookings) - Bookings are up on last year so please get in early to avoid disappointment! Also remember that bookings are still possible throughout the school/summer holidays.

-o-O-o-

20 October

OPEN AS USUAL FOR GEELONG & MELBOURNE CUPS
- for schools & hockey - sorry no public sessions on those days

14 October

A growing economy seems like a good thing, especially for those of us in the recreational and sporting industries. We look like having 20% more hockey teams than last season for this summer comp and we should therefore cement out position as Australia's biggest independent hockey competition with those figures!

We also have had a surge in skate sales so that we are now selling over 300% more than at the same time last year and given that we were already one of Australia's top online skate shops that is quite an achievement.

Everything has a downside however and we are currently running a little behind on a few projects but we hope you can bear with us as we channel those the extra funds into new programs!

5 October

New hockey season starts today - follow the above link for more info.

Back to school for most today and back to the regular opening hours for the Centre.

Given that almost half of our staff were in Perth for the last week or two for the Skate Australia tournament, and have just got back today, things should slowly get back to "normal" soon - we hope!

3 September

Father's Day on Sunday, so just a reminder that DAD'S SKATE FREE when accompanying a paying child on the day!

Inline Roller Hockey League finals starting next week. Good luck to all and don't forget to get your teams in for next season, which starts just after the school holidays.

Speaking of school holidays, they aren't far away, so as always, extra Monday to Friday sessions will be running.

The Australian Inline Hockey Skate Australia's (R) National Inline Hockey titles are on in a few weeks (in Perth) and we are lucky enough to have representatives in the Veteran's, Senior Women's, Junior Women's, 21's, and 13's divisions. Good luck to them too!

Skate Shop sales, especially our online sales have reached mammoth proportions and we are currently awaiting new stock in some lines, although our main sellers are well stocked. We are presently selling as many skates as we normally do around Christmas time, so deliveries appear to be taking an extra day or two, to some locations. Please bear with us, as things should be back to normal very soon.

14 August

Last month has been very busy with more birthday parties, more hockey players, and more internet sales than usual. For the Centre this has been interesting as we had expected a bit of a slow-down as was the case in many other recreational businesses, so we should thank all of our customers for their on-going support - thank-you!

Further to the above we have had and will have new staff starting at the Centre to help us cope with the increased demand; welcome. As always, we will aim to maintain the best and most value service delivery to all!

3 July

School holidays are half-way finished and we are gearing up for another busy week. Nothing like going for a skate during a dreary holiday, by the look of things!

For our internet customers, this year end-of-financial-year activities have combined with the school holidays and "supplier" issues to make thing a little more hectic than usual. Don't worry things have settled down now!

For all of our customers, remember, we have started importing our own gear now and prices will be even more competitive than ever. New stock arriving soon.

11 June

School holidays are coming soon and we hope you remember that we have extra sessions over the holidays but you can still book your parties during any of our regular or extra session times.

4 June

Much has been happening over the last few weeks, but first:

Just repeating the item on our front page, on the Queen's Birthday Holiday on Monday 8 June, we open for public/general skating from 1:30-4:30 and for roller hockey, as usual.

Many changes to the world of ice and roller skating with major brands like Bauer & Mission amalgamating, and Australian importers moving back to New Zealand, and new suppliers taking over distribution of Easton ice skates.

To serve you better we will now be by-passing some of the old suppliers and importing many of our own skates so that you will get more variety, better service, and importantly LOWER PRICES!

Stay tuned...as they say (trite, but true)
